In the Know with BSCO: A monthly newsletter from Brinker Simpson & Company. Practical insights, firm updates, and events, delivered straight to your inbox.

This is a difficult month for our firm. Before we get to what's ahead, we want to honor the passing of our partner Matt Mingey Sr., whose legacy is woven into everything Brinker Simpson & Company has become. In Matt's spirit, the work continues, and there is plenty to plan for this summer.

Inside: a new Township earned income tax effective July 1, deductions the self-employed shouldn't overlook, estate planning for business owners, and a smarter month-end close.

In memory of our partner and friend, Matt Mingey Sr.

It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of our partner, Matt Mingey Sr., CPA, CFE. Matt was one of the original members of Brinker Simpson & Company. He was the first employee hired in 1991, became a partner in 2002, and helped grow our firm from three people into what it is today.

Our thoughts are with Matt's wife Susan, his daughter Lexi, his son and our colleague Matt Jr., and the entire Mingey family.
