Client Alert: Brinker Simpson Tax Season Updates

We're excited to kick off our 2023 personal tax preparation season and are committed to making your experience smoother and more secure.

A couple of reminders…

DOCUMENT DEADLINE AND AUTOMATIC EXTENSIONS
Submit all tax documents by March 25, 2024, for timely filing. Missed the deadline? We'll file an extension, but all tax payments are due April 15, 2024.

We offer some options for getting your information to us in the most convenient ways...

GET US YOUR TAX INFORMATION WITH TAXCADDY
We are continuing to use TaxCaddy to collect your tax information! With TaxCaddy, you can electronically receive your tax organizer, manage and securely upload your tax documents, and communicate with your tax advisor, all from the convenience of your computer, smartphone, or tablet. If you plan on sending personal tax information electronically, please do so through TaxCaddy.

We received positive feedback from those who utilized the platform last tax season, and we strongly encourage you to take advantage of its convenient features this year. You can learn more about the benefits of TaxCaddy here and watch the one-minute video demonstration here.

LET US KNOW IF YOU'D LIKE TO USE TAXCADDY!
Click here to complete a quick form with the contact information to get you started. Once submitted, you can expect to hear from a team member within a week with additional instructions. If you used Tax Caddy last year, you are already enrolled for this year and do not need to sign up again. New and existing Tax Caddy users will be sent invitations before the end of January. Please sign in within 14 days of receiving the invitation.

E-SIGN ENGAGEMENT LETTERS
At Brinker Simpson, we constantly search for ways to streamline our processes. We are happy to announce that clients can now sign their tax engagement letters with an electronic signature! 

Watch out for emails during January 2024 with instructions for signing your engagement letter. Contact us at contact@brinkersimpson.com if you don't receive your tax engagement letter(s) by January  31, 2024.

Clients will receive a link to their engagement letter(s) from contact@brinkersimpson.com. Please check your spam folder if you don't see it in your inbox. Clients will receive a separate email for each engagement (one per entity).

TAX ORGANIZER/QUESTIONNAIRE
For clients using TaxCaddy, the tax organizer/questionnaire can be completed electronically and will prompt you regarding what information is still needed. If you do not sign up for TaxCaddy by January 31, 2024, you will be sent a PDF version of the tax organizer/questionnaire or another method if you've arranged it with your tax preparer. Please note: We're phasing out paper organizers in the next few years.

SAFESEND RETURNS
Once your returns are prepared, your tax packet (returns, instructions, vouchers, E-file signature authorization forms, etc.) can be sent to you through SafeSend Returns. This prevents you from coming into the office or waiting for your returns in the mail. You can learn more about SafeSend Returns by visiting our website

CLIENT MEETINGS
To prioritize safety and convenience, we're limiting in-person meetings. Please opt for phone or virtual appointments via Zoom or Microsoft Teams.
