Start Your Career at Brinker Simpson

Paid internships in tax, audit, and client accounting services for students who want real experience, not busywork. Most of our early-career hires started as interns.

More Than an Internship

Our program is designed to give you a realistic look at what it's like to work in public accounting. You'll work alongside experienced professionals, contribute to real client engagements, and get exposure to the kind of work you'd be doing full-time. We're looking for students who want to dig in, ask questions, and figure out if this is the right fit for them and for us.

What the Experience Looks Like

  • A real path to full-time. The majority of our interns receive full-time offers. This isn't a placeholder on your resume, it's where most of our careers begin.
  • Real client work. You're not filing papers or sitting in on calls. You're contributing to actual engagements with real deadlines and real clients.
  • Mentorship. Every intern is paired with experienced professionals who are invested in helping you learn and grow during the program.
  • Exposure across departments. Depending on your internship track, you'll get to see how tax, audit, and CAS teams operate and interact.
  • Social events and firm culture. We want you to get to know the people here, not just the work. Expect team lunches, firm events, and the chance to build relationships beyond your desk.

Three Ways to Get Started

We offer internship opportunities during three windows throughout the year. Each one is built around the natural rhythm of our busiest seasons and your academic schedule.

February through April 15

Tax Season Internship

Our highest-intensity internship. You'll work directly with the tax team during the busiest time of the year, preparing returns, supporting client communications, and learning how a tax practice operates under real deadlines. This is where you find out if tax is for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Tax Return Preparation
  • Client Communication
  • Deadline Management
  • Team Collaboration

Late May through early August

Summer Internship

A broader experience across departments. Summer interns rotate through tax, audit, and client accounting services, getting exposure to different practice areas and working styles. This is a good option if you're still figuring out which direction you want to go.

Key Responsibilities

  • Department Rotations
  • Cross-Functional Exposure
  • Career Exploration
  • Team Collaboration

Based on your school's academic calendar

Winter Break Internship

A two- to three-week engagement designed for students who want to get a head start before spring semester. You'll shadow team members, assist on active engagements, and start building relationships with the people you could be working alongside after graduation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Job Shadowing
  • Engagement Support
  • Relationship Building
  • Career Exploration

Who Should Apply

  • College juniors or seniors pursuing a degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Students who are curious, team-oriented, and ready to take on real responsibility
  • Strong communicators who aren't afraid to ask questions
  • Candidates from any school or university are welcome to apply

You don't need to have your entire career mapped out. You just need to be willing to show up, put in the work, and see where it leads.
